Green Lake Kiwanis Warming Up For Mardi Gras Bowling

For the 5th year the Green Lake Kiwanis Club is sponsoring a 9-Pin Tap Bowling Tournament benefiting special needs kids from Green Lake County. Last year the Club sent three kids to Camp Wawbeek, an Easter Seals Camp in Wisconsin Dells. The cost for a week is approximately $650 for each camper.

The club is trying out a Kiwanis interclub competition, with prizes for the highest and lowest team scores. Reduced rates are available at Comfort Suites across from the Plaza Bowl in Ripon. Sign your teams up soon. Two clubs from Mauston are coming for the noon slot, and several other clubs are signed up.

The event this year will be held at Plaza Bowl in Ripon on Saturday February 27th, with squad times at noon and 3 pm. A 9 am slot will open up if these fill. The teams are five members with a cost of $25 each. This includes three games of 9-Pin Tap format, All You Can Eat New Orleans buffet with roast beef Po Boys, red beans and rice with all the trimmings, as well as a door prize ticket or 6 raffle tickets. Plaza Bowl will be providing free shoes, a quarter barrel of beer, a door prize, and Cajun Music. The buffet alone is open to the public for$7.50, served from 11am till 4pm.

Raffle tickets are sold in advance as well as at the event $1 each or 6 for $5. The first prize is $500 cash donated by Green Lake Bank, second prize a 2009 Signed Packer Team football, and third prize is 2 tickets to an event at Thrasher Opera House and dinner for 2 at Tuscumbia's 680 North. Winners need not be present for the raffle to be held at 3pm. Door prize winners must be present to win. Tickets will be sold for $5 each or 6 for $25 at the event. Also a silent auction will be featuring many great prizes such as, but not limited to, a 4 day and 3 night stay at Blind Pass Resort with a $40 gift certificate at Sea Critters Restaurant in St. Pete Beach, Fla (Donated by Tom Giambetti), a Japanese Grill Dinner served in your home for  8 (Donated by Bill and Mevi Bannasch an Dr. Jim and Karen Williams), 2 handmade Packers, 1 football, and 1Badgers blankets (Donna Moore), and a half day pontoon rental (Bay View Motel and Resort), as well as others to be announced.
