Message from the Governor

Spring is finally here and the weather is stabilizing. As we thaw out from the weather and our gardens are getting ready to bloom, what are we doing to grow our Kiwanis Clubs? There is an unprecedented enthusiasm around membership growth in our District right now so what efforts have your clubs put in place to "Spring" your membership forward? I would love to help your club if you aren't quite sue where to start. Let's work together and grow our garden of the Wisconsin Upper Michigan District.

We are looking at celebrating 100 years of service in our District this year at our District Convention. We are putting together a slideshow presentation highlighting all of the wonderful projects and events that have happened over the last 100 years. We want your pictures! Please share any pictures/clippings that you have from your club since its inauguration. We would love to include your club in our slideshow, so please send them to me via email or snail mail to my home address.

Have you cleaned up your rosters yet this year? Don't wait until the end of the year to clean up your membership roster. Clean them up now so you can see where your membership is realistically sitting at. This will give you a better idea of how many members you need to recruit to end the year with a net gain in membership. One of the Distinguished Club Requirements is having a net gain in membership. Let's set ourselves up now in terms of membership and let's see all of our clubs become Distinguished.

Is your club actively reporting on a monthly basis? Club reporting is so important for your Club and for the District. If we aren't reporting, we do not have a way to actively measure our success as an organization. If we aren't reporting, we have no way to look back and revel in our success or identify areas of opportunity. We have seen a jump in Clubs reporting this year and we thank you for that, but I encourage the Clubs who aren't currently reporting, to please start. There is a great benefit in the information that you share. If you have any questions on how to report, please let me know.

Is your club struggling? Does your club need help? We are here for you. The Formula team has been hard at work this year coaching clubs that have been struggling and we have seen great success. If you are in need of help, please reach out to us and we will find you the help you need.

Just a friendly reminder that there is a Governor's Membership Challenge for the year and the top prize is $1000. You are challenged to end this year with a net gain of 2 members for your club. For each net gain you have over 2, your club is entered into the raffle. For example, if you have a net gain of 10 members at the end of this administrative year, you will have 10 tickets entered into the raffle. You must have a minimum net gain of 2 members and be at charter strength to be eligible to win. One lucky winner will receive $1000 that your club will get to decide what to do with. This can be used in your Administrative or Service Accounts. Additionally, there will be awards for top performing clubs in each Division and District.

Don't miss out on an awesome District Convention this year as we celebrate 100 years of service in Wisconsin Upper Michigan.

Yours Through Service and Dedication,
